Welcome to Damansara, an influential neighborhood nestled in the hills of metropolitan Kuala Lumpur. It’s a place of contrasts: socioeconomic, religious, and ethnic. If the nation’s mantra, Malaysia Truly Asia, could ever ring truest, it would be in this neighborhood. Let me illustrate further through three Damansarans who display this beautiful country’s complex diversity.
Meet Rubini, a middle-aged schoolteacher who begins her day by lighting an oil lamp at her household Hindu shrine before preparing breakfast for her family. Then there’s Wei Jian, an affluent corporate executive who lights incense and makes an offering to his Buddhist shrine before his weekly business trips. Don’t forget Sarah, a young marketing professional starting her corporate climb. Her morning routine begins with coffee, exercise, and scrolling through social media, with little conscious attention given to the things shaping her own worship.
Three competing visions of the world, each displaying the stamp of God’s creative design. Yet, even in the midst of a city filled with common grace, it is impossible for each individual to truly flourish. An eternal chasm still exists deep within them, which can only be bridged by their Creator. They were not made merely to image God, but to know Him and be satisfied in Him forever. Who will tell them about this?
Could it be that God desires to write the people of Damansara into a better story? A story that delivers purpose, fulfillment, and lasting joy found only in the finished work of Jesus Christ. Who will take that story to the neighborhood? It must be a people, His people, who display it distinctively and speak about it unashamedly.
It’s going to take many local churches, but it has to start with one.
Why not begin with Flourish Hill, a new gospel-centered church plant right in the thick of it all? Equipped with a faithful pastoral team and members committed to leveraging their gifts for the good of Damansara and beyond. They are already bearing fruit.
From new baptisms to consistent outreach, to securing a stable gathering space, and serving the church throughout the week. We are seeing a foundation laid for generational gospel impact. Our prayer: that God would use Flourish Hill as a hub for gospel advance from Kuala Lumpur to the ends of the earth.
At Terminus, we are committed to investing in and strengthening the work of Flourish Hill. Will you join us in helping them?
